Conventions: Our product challenges and uses conventions by the utilization of natural light, dialogue, minimal music, over-the-shoulder shots, and a time hop to the future/ present day. Conventions such as focusing the camera on the foreground or the up-close shot of the distressed characters face accentuates emotion and suspense. The use of minimal music is implicated due to dialogue which gives the audience a further understanding of the stories plot. The overall ambiance of our preview is action packed, and will leave the viewers on the edge of their seats.
Social Groups/ Issues: Within our three minute short film, we were able to establish social groups such as gangs and the issues that preside with them. Issues such as gang violence, drag racing (illegal), robbing banks, and objectification of woman are all present in our product. It's common for young boys to want to fit in and get caught up on materialistic things without regard for the legal consequences as well as young girls who wear too revealing of clothes. The preview concludes with a hit list which implies that violence will occur in the future.
